New TF Sport # 82 Z06 GT3.R finishes near the bottom in France

Tom Ferrier’s TF Sport team brought this beautiful new chassis 023 to Circuit Paul Ricard on May 2 to replace chassis 012 that was demolished in testing at Spa.

The 4-hour race, the first half run under wet conditions, was a struggle in which the team finished 10th in the LMGT3 class consisting of 13 evenly-matched cars.

Drivers Hiroshi Kolzumi, Rui Andrade and Charlie Eastwood were about a minute off the pace and completed 95 laps.

Custodio Toledo, Lilou Wadoux and Riccardo Agostini won the race in the # 50 Ferrari 296 LM GT3 completing 100 laps in the team Richard Mille Ferrari AF Corse.

The ELMS series, consisting of 6 races, is heavily weighted with 31 LMP2 and LMP 3 purpose-built race cars compared with 13 LMGT3 cars derived from marques purposed for street use. TF Sport also manages the # 99 LMP2 ProAm Ligier/Toyota shown above.

The philosophy at GM to race the Z06 GT3.R Corvette abroad is to choose one experienced team vs a plethora of 7 Ferraris, 2 Porsches, a McLaren, an Aston Martin, an AMG Mercedes and a Mustang in the case of the ELMS.

The 3.629-mile circuit in Le Castellet France was built in 1970 by Paul Ricard, the French wine/spirits anise drink tycoon, which bears his name and which has hosted 14 F1 Grand Prix among other races of significance.

TF Sport gets a respite to prepare for ELMS round 3 on July 4-6 in Italy at Imola.
