Trans Am at CoTA


Trans Am Corvettes are a non-factor at CoTA finale while Vintage Corvettes clean up

Ray Kobbs from Norwell MA in his # 00 2005 C6 GT1 Corvette settled for 2nd place in the GT1 class, completing 29 laps of the 3.4-mile F1 circuit just south of the Austin TX CBD.

Casey Jones from Conroe TX in his # 28 2014 C7 GT2 Corvette was classified 4th in the GT class, completing only 8 laps.

Matt Brabham (remember that name) won overall in the # 16 2025 Gym Weed TA Mustang sitting in for Chris Dyson.

Paul Menard in his # 3 2025 PPG TA Mustang was the season champ, besting Amy Ruman in her # 23 2006 McNichols Corvette who had wrapped up 5th place in the standings and stayed home.

Meanwhile in vintage racing, Corvettes took seven of the top ten places in the SVRA Group 6 races, led by winner Peter Klutt in his # 59 1971 “Old School” Killer Hard Top Corvette.

Matt Brabham, (see above) grandson of the late Formula 1 champ Jack Brabham, was on the scene and strapped into the # 33 1963 red hot Corvette roadster owned by Mike Donohue to take second place.

Jody O’Donnell in his # 46 1969 Corvette coupe finished 3rd. 

Claire Schwendeman in his # 37 1968 roadster finished 5th.

 Mark Hilderbrand in his # 28 1972 coupe was 6th.

Bob Caudle in his # 17 1968 roadster was 7th overall and won the AP class.

John Anderson in his # 37 hard top was 9th overall and 2nd in the AP class.

Jim Sandberg # 84, Mark McIlyar # 33B were 3rd & 4th in 6AP and Steve Yarbourgh # 76 was 4th in 6BP.

Newcomer to vintage racing Steve Smith finished fourth in his 1992 C4 SCCA T2 Corvette in Group 12a MP3.

David Fershtand # 05 2001 GT1 Corvette finished 2nd overall among 28 cars in Group 10 (including many ex- NASCAR) and first in the GT3 class.

 George Wright in his # 51 1959 C1 solid axle group 4 Corvette won the 4BP class.
