Corvette highlights from the Trans Am at Barber Motorsports Park

All that Kaylee Bryson had to do was take the grid in her # 02 LSI C6 Z06 Corvette to claim the XGT class championship at the picturesque 2.38-mile Barber Motorsports Park located about 20 miles east of Birmingham AL.

In not one of her better days, the car lost oil pressure to bring out a full-course caution on lap 33 of the 42-lap race

Eric Foss, a racing instructor driving # 54 Stan Wilkinson’s South Dallas Turf C7 GT2 Corvette was sensational, winning the SGT class and finishing 3rd, 1 lap short of the overall winner.  The car is one of many Corvettes prepared by GSpeed, a leading speed shop in Cresson TX run by Louis Gigliotti.

Amy Ruman in her # 23 McNichols GT1 Corvette finished 4th, ahead of hot shots Chris Dyson and Tomy Drissi who started on slicks, wrongly betting that rain would let up before it did.

The wet track enabled Adam Andretti to win the TA class for the first time in the # 17 Top Liner Camaro, owned and managed by former Trans Am racer Claudio Burton with roots in Argentina.

Spectacular sculpture grace the scenery at Barber Motorsports Park which also boasts a museum with a collection of 1,800 motorcycles.
