Modest results persist at Abu Dhabi worsened by unrepairable damage to a Corvette
The third and final round of the Asian Le Mans series races took place on February 7/8 at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi, a 3.28-mile track located on Yas Island about 80 miles from Dubai (which also hosts the final race of the Formula 1 season in early December).
The best Corvette results in the 4-hour races were 10th on Saturday and 13th on Sunday by Blake Macdonald, Matthew Bell and James Roe in the # 11 TF Sport Z06 GT3.R Corvette.
Next best, in 20th on Saturday and 11th on Sunday were Charlie Eastwood, Tom Van Rompuy and Salih Yoluc in the # 34 TF Sport Z06 GT3.R sister car.
And finally, 12th on Saturday and 20th on Sunday were Alexander Sims, Prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim and Prince Jefri Ibrahim (who replaced Yasser Shahin) in the Johor # 66 Z06 GT3.R Corvette.
Jordan Love in the Johor # 99 Z06 GT3.R Corvette crashed in turn 4 during testing with Paul DiResta in the United Autosports # 6 LMP2 Oreca. The severity of the damage sidelined Love and Ben Green for the weekend.
When it comes to wreckage, the race on Sunday was red-flagged for nearly an hour to clear a crash that blocked the track 40 minutes into the race.
Dustin Scott Blattner, Chris Lulham and Dennis Marshall finished 3rd on Saturday and 9th on Sunday in the # 74 Kessel Ferrari 296 GT3 to secure the GT title and an automatic entry to the 2026 24 Hours of Le Mans.
