Mid-pack Corvette results at Dubai in Asian Le Mans series
The second round of the Asian Le Mans series races took place on Jan 31/Feb 1 at the Dubai Autodrome, an FIA-sanctioned 3.5-mile circuit located about 25 minutes from central Dubai.
The high point for Corvettes was Alexander Sims, Prince Abu Bakar Ibrahim and Yasser Shahin in the Johor # 66 Z06 GT3.R Corvette that finished 2nd in GT class on Saturday, the first of two 4-hour races; while they fell to 15th on the next day. Meanwhile, Ben Green, Prince Jefri Ibrahim and Jordan Love in the Johor # 99 Z06 GT3.R Corvette finished 15th and 11th on those 2 days.
The low point was Blake Macdonald, Matthew Bell and James Roe in the # 11 TF Sport Z06 GT3.R Corvette that got crashed out in race 1 and not classified, 44 laps short of 99 laps completed by the leaders. They recovered to finish 13th on Sunday. It appears that TF Sport arranged to transport and run the same car and drivers campaigned in the USA by team DXDT.
Charlie Eastwood, Tom Van Rompuy and Salih Yoluc in the # 34 TF Sport Z06 GT3.R sister car in striking red Turkish livery respectively finished 6th and 9th.
Dustin Blattner, Dennis Marschall and Chris Lulham in the Swiss-based # 74 Kessel Ferrari 296 GT3 won on Saturday; and Anthony McIntosh, Parker Thompson and Dan Harper in the Belgian-based # 69 WRT BMW M4 GT3 won in a close finish on Sunday.
The Asian Le Mans Series races are held under the auspices of the Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO). They start in mid-afternoon and end in dusk that mimics the feel of the epic Le Mans 24-hour race that began in 1923.
The next race, just a week away in Abu Dhabi winds up the 3-race Asian Le Mans series for 2026.
