Keeping the Corvette alive in Trans am at VIR and beyond
Our hopes rest on Amy Ruman, a stalwart and true ambassador to the sport.
Amy finished 5th in her # 23 TA Corvette after qualifying last in class, some 4 seconds off the pace at the exciting 3.27-mile road circuit in Virginia that sits just north of the North Carolina Border.
Race officials upped Ruman to 5th after Tomy Drissi, in yet another clash, set her 4 laps down at the finish.
The good news is the Ruman Racing Team has the will, the spirit and the backing to show up next year and beyond. The sobering news is the odds for improvement are slim in her aging Corvette as the season winds down with one more race to go before ending at CoTA on October 30.
Chris Dyson won the race in none less than his newest version of the # 16 Gym Weed Mustang, starting from the back (penalized for changing tires) and storming through the field, completing 31 laps to beat series points leader Paul Menard # 3 Pittsburgh Paints Mustang.
Kaylee Bryson has been a lesser presence this season, skipping 5 events to go Sprint Car racing in the USAC Silver Crown series on the short track circuits around the mid-west.
Kaylee finished 3rd in her # 02 LSI GTX class Corvette, surrendering the lead on lap 19 to class-winner Billy Griffin in his # 14 AMG GT3.
