# 11 DXDT Corvette falls short twice in SRO GT America ProAm class at VIR
Blake McDonald & Matt Bell piloted the # 11 DXDT Z06 GT3.R Corvette to 3rd place in Saturday’s race and 2nd place in Sunday’s race at the 3.27-mile road course in Alton VA, just north of the NC state line.
McDonald got beat out by Darin Turner in the # 24 Heart of Racing Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT3 in the frantic last 15 minutes in the first of two 90-minute races on Saturday.
And did not quite pack enough oomph to beat Roby Foley and Justin Rothberg in the # 29 Will Turner Motorsport BMW M4 GT3 EVO on Sunday.
Grabbing a chance to stop for fuel during an opportune full course yellow, Aaron Povoledo led the ProAm class for a spell in the # 50 DXDT Z06 GT3.R but his timing proved off, forcing a second stop just short of the finish.
Chouest/Poveledo who flirted with glory finished 8th on Saturday, parked it overnight for a respectable 4th on Sunday.
Foley and Rothberg won the ProAm class both days for a weekend sweep.
The 2-day festivities that kicked off with our national anthem could have worked out a bit better for the Corvette teams.
