Amy Ruman finishes 4th in TA, Dave Melnick is 2nd in SGT at Lime Rock Park
Consistency pays off once again for the Ruman Racing Team as # 23 Amy Ruman, backed by McNichols and new sponsor Valley Bank made a run for the podium.
Ruman moved up when fastest qualifiers Chris Dyson & Matt Brabham in their Gym Weed # 16 & # 21 Mustangs respectively wrecked and suffered an electrical glitch.
Race winner Paul Menard # 3 Pittsburgh Paints Mustang grabbed the lead on the re-start after a clean-up from Dyson who crashed while attempting to pass a sleepy driver behind the wheel of a slower car.
Dave Melnick, making his first start in the # 71 C6 Z06 Corvette, finished behind Joshua Carlson in his # 36 Ford Mustang who won the SGT class for the fifth straight time.
Melnick, from Merrick NY acquired the C6 Z06 ex F.A.S.T. Corvette in 2023 from fellow New Yorker Adrian Wlostowski of Maspeth Queens with an itch to switch to the burgeoning TA2 class.
Melnick for whom racing is a sideline to a busy family-owned concrete flooring business, will hopefully “go for it” in the next race at Mid-Ohio on June 21-22.
Honoring those who serve our great country has become a Lime Rock tradition on Memorial Day.
