Lone Z06 GT3.R Corvette stumbles in the Netherlands
The Steller Motorsport # 24 Z06 GT3.R was the only Corvette entered in the third round of the SRO WC Europe series at the Zandvoort circuit in the dunes by the sea.
The # 24 Corvette piloted by Silver Class drivers Matisse Lismont & Jesse Salmenautio was not classified in the first 90-minute race on Saturday.
We are looking into reasons for not starting the race.
The # 99 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II piloted by Alex Aka and Ezequiel Perez Compac of the Tressor Attempto Racing Team won the Silver class, completing 36 laps around the 2.62-mile circuit.
The Steller boys finished a disappointing 8th in Sunday’s race but managed to stay on the lead lap.
The # 26 Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo II piloted by Lorens Lecertua and Ivan Klymenko of the French-based Sainteloc Racing Team came from behind to win the Silver Class on Sunday, completing 37 laps.
Competition is deep with some 40 teams with drivers rated Silver, Gold, Bronze and PRO in the ten (10) race SRO WC Europe Series. Per Gary Blackham, Team Principal Steller Motorsport: “We looked long and hard at the available options in GT3 before joining the Corvette family. The Z06 GT3.R is a stunning car, beautifully engineered and designed as a true endurance racer”.
We hope to catch up further regarding plans to race a second chassis including the 24-hour race at the Spa Francorchamps Circuit in Belgium on June 25.
