TF Sport Corvettes stumble badly in WEC round 3 at SPA Francorchamps

Both TF Sport Team Corvettes lacked outright speed, finishing 13th and 14th in LMGT3 with no points gained.

For the record, the # 33 Z06 GT3.R of Ben Keating, Daniel Juncadella and Jonny Edgar edged the # 81 of Charlie Eastwood, Rui Andrade and Tom Van Rompuy (on Tom’s Belgian home track).

Per Keating who won the season opener at Qatar: “I would not call this racing. This is driving around the course waiting for someone else to make a mistake. I feel like it is a waste of time and I am quite angry about it.”

Neither TF Sport Corvette qualified in the top ten and struggled to keep up during the 6-hour race.

Two safety car periods in the early going offered a chance to gain track position.

The # 81 ran as high as third near the three-hour mark but could not hold position and, also incurred a pit lane penalty.

The # 33 ran a clean race and still leads the Drivers and Teams points going into Le Mans with double-points up for grabs; and shedding 50lbs of ‘success’ ballast.

The # 21 Team Vista AF Corse Ferrari 296 GT3 of François Heriau, Simon Mann, and Alessio Rovera won the race and pitted one fewer time.

Several C6.R GT1 Corvettes were sold off after their prime to customers that raced at Spa, circa 2008/9.
