Paul Fix leads flag-to-flag for 67 laps to win at Lime Rock Park
4th round TA winner Paul Fix had Doug Peterson on his tail for 39 laps when suddenly the dogfight ended. Peterson was out, sidelined by a mishap in traffic.
Third place qualifier Amy Ruman was also a victim of traffic. Shuffled back to last on lap 2, she coolly sliced through the field finishing a well-earned 3rd on the heels of Cliff Ebben’s Mustang.
Many can argue that Lime Rock at just 1.53 miles, is too short to accommodate the speeds and handling of “modern” race cars. The circuit has not changed much since opening in 1957 except for safety measures. Lime Rock Park endures as the only continually operating road racing circuit in the Northeast, justified by upscale demographics and a beautiful rustic setting in the Berkshire Foothills. Perfect weather and a large crowd capped off a great day.
These ladies have good reason to smile. Lauren (center) & Shelby Fix (right) are the beaming wife and daughter of winner Paul Fix. Amy Ruman (left) finished on the podium.
The late Max LeGod must be smiling down upon us. Check out the story. Hotshot Adam Andretti, piloting Max’s specially built C5 TA Corvette (aptly named “Max”) was a contender until it too was victimized by traffic with 16 laps to go. We expect to see more of it.
To win, it helps to have an engine built and maintained by Tony Ave Racing.
Thanks to Richard Martin and Chris Clark for these great photos
