Pratt & Miller Team finally victorious halfway thru 2024 season

Antonio Garcia and Nicky Catsburg crossed the finish line 1-2 respectively in their # 3 & 4 Pratt & Miller IMSA GTD PRO Z06 GT3.R Corvettes at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport) in CANADA.

Not winning until the seventh race for this well-polished team might be chalked up for lots of reasons; however, winning the championship is still possible.

There was no shortage of media coverage for this break-through win and yet no signs of gloating, at least in public.

Alexander Sims found the hot set-up and put the # 3 car on the pole.

Tommy Milner qualified the # 4 car third and took second early into the 2 hr-40 min race on the daunting 2.45-mile road circuit of fast uphill and downhill blind turns.  Drivers say they love the place but even the best of them “pucker up”.  Consider that Mosport ranks first in North America in terms of fastest average lap time.

It was smooth sailing through stops for fuel, tires, changing drivers and re-starts.

The # 77 Porsche 911 GT3.R (992) (T-Rex) finished third and remains atop the standings.

While the # 14 Lexus RCF GT3 and # 9 McLaren 720 S GT3 evo pursuers suffered rare “off days”.

Orey Fadini in the # 13 AWA team GTD Z06 GT3.R was a DNF at his native track, punted off by a BMW on lap 27, far short of the 113-laps completed by the GTD winners.

The event drew a big crowd even though twelve LMP2 “spec” cars headed the field, absent the multi-marque IMSA GTP cars that were not scheduled.

IMSA action resumes at Road America on Aug 3-4.
