Corvettes stand out at Lime Rock Park Historic Festival 44
Let’s start with some action! Brian Morrison, playing Superman, saved his # 76 1969 Corvette to race another day.
Martin Hosek blitzed the field in Group 2 for GT & Sporting Cars in his # 39 1978 Corvette with SCCA and IMSA history going back in the day.
Glenn Every ran up front in his # 113 1969 SCCA BP Corvette. It was originally a club racer in Florida. A few years ago, Glenn checked off his “bucket list” to race in the UK at historic circuits like Brands Hatch and Oulton Park.
Steve Yarborough raced this # 176 1963 SWC that belongs to his friend Del Hardy. Both hail from Reno NV and took part in the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion at Laguna Seca. Steve also raced his Swift open wheeler in Group 9 for wings & slicks cars.
Tom Cotter, a/k/a “the Barn Find Hunter” raced his # 33 1963 roadster with period history in CA. Dave Handy of SASCO Motorsports keeps it in top shape.
Chris Fennell raced this beautiful # 28 1965 coupe that we first spotted at Monterey back in 2002. It surfaced for sale years later, still in pristine condition. Chris has raced it for the past several years.
Brian Canale appeared at HF 43 in a rather beat-up # 46 1969 Corvette. A year can do wonders and he’s not done yet.
Dario Cavallero raced this # 8 1964 roadster that also sees action at Thompson CT.
George Ladyman makes an annual pilgrimage to race his # 21 1970 Corvette at Lime Rock.
Ray Zisa, proprietor of Corvette Center of Connecticut, a full-service shop, has raced his ex-Kim Baker (Corvette HOF) # 4 1990 R9G for the last 30 years including Sebring and Watkins Glen. Ray was one of the quicker cars in Group 8 for Historic and World Challenge Cars.
Jason Berkeley raced this # 67 2005 C6 Corvette for several years in the Trans Am Series. Now retired from pro racing, HF 44 was a fun and easy way to promote the nearby Falls Village Inn.
Historic Festival 44 was hosted by the esteemed Miles Collier from the Revs Institute in Naples FL. Collier brought a huge selection of cars from ARCA pre-dating the SCCA as well as a collection of Alfas which was the featured marque.
Mike Joy, the “voice of NASCAR”, interviewed Trans Am legends David Hobbs, Tommy Kendall & Dorsey Schrader.
Lime Rock was packed to the gills the entire Labor- Day weekend. The show on Sunday “Quiet Day” featured cars of virtually all marques, arrayed around the 1.53-mile track. Like this quirky Trabant, “the Peoples” Car cranked out by the Communists in East Germany.
