Corvettes scored fourth and eighth in Watkins Glen Enduro
Antonio Garcia and Alexander Simms finished 4th in the # 3 Pratt & Miller Z06 GT3.R in the GTD PRO class on the lightning-fast 3.4-mile track perched above the village of Watkins Glen at the foot of picturesque Seneca Lake.
They started 8th and had no miscues in the course of the 6-hour race.
Tommy Milner and Nicky Catsburg starting 9th crossed the finish line in 5th place in the # 4 Pratt & Miller Z06 GT3.R
But IMSA officials slapped a drive-through penalty on Catsburg for bumping Frank Vervisch in the Ford Racing Team # 65 Mustang GT3 in a charge to pass on the uphill stretch (the heel of the boot) on the final lap leading into left-hand turn seven.
A drop to 8th place surrendered the GTD PRO points lead to Neil Verhagen and Connor De Philippi in the Paul Miller Racing # 1 BMW M4 GT3 Evo as a result.
Jack Hawksworth and Ben Barnicoat in the Vasser Sullivan Team # 14 Lexus RCT GT3 won the GTD PRO class, employing a strategy where everything came together at the end.
Charlie Eastwood, Mason Filippi and Salih Yoluc in the Team DXDT # 36 Z06 GT3.R led the GTD class at one point but were forced a stop for a splash of fuel in a gamble that fell short and set them back to 11th. They used the chassis from last year in SRO GT America Series to replace the car damaged in a fire en route from Long Beach to Laguna Seca.
Orey Fidani, Matt Bell and Lars Kern in the 13 Autosport Team # 13 Z06 GT3.R were headed for a top-five finish in GTD before a late-race puncture forced Bell to the pitlane and finish 13th.
Henrik Hedman at the wheel of the Dragon Speed Z06 GT3.R # 81 was a victim of a huge crash that brought the first of nine full-course caution periods. The car he shared with Giacomo Altoé and Casper Stevenson was ultimately repaired and finished 16th in GTD.
Jack Aitken, Earl Bamber and Frederik Vesti in the Cadillac Whelen # 31 started from pole and led the field for 143 of 182 laps to win the IMSA GTP class, earning bragging rights for GM and a big points lead heading into the next race at CTMP (Mosport) in Canada on July 10-12.
