Luck shines on the # 4 Pratt & Miller Corvette at CTMP in Canada
Nicky Catsburg drove the # 4 ZO6 GT3.R Pratt & Miller Corvette to 2nd place in the IMSA GTD PRO class.
A call to top off for fuel with 80 minutes remaining in the 2 hour-40-minute race allowed Catsburg and Tommy Milner to stay out as the race ended under a full course caution flag.
That stroke of luck made their day after falling back to 9th place, partly from losing time in the pits.
Antonio Garcia and Alexander Sims in the # 3 ZO6 GT3.R Corvette ran a traditional strategy and might have made the podium before the yellow flag flew at the end.
Albert Costa & Giacomo Altoe piloted the # 81 Ferrari 296 GT3 for team Dragonspeed to record the first win for the heralded marque in the IMSA Weathertech series.
Robert Wickens who started 3rd in GTD and Alec Udell were contending for 3rd before the late yellow flag came out. It was nonetheless a good result for Wickens, a courageous Canadian, making his first appearance at a track in his home country.
Orey Fidani in the beautiful # 13 ZO6 GT3.R AWA Corvette, all decked out in red at their home track, was nearly 3 seconds off in qualifying, fell a lap down in the race and finished 13th (last) in GTD, too much for Matt Bell to overcome.
The GTD PRO points lead of Garcia and Sims over the # 77 Porsche “Rexy” has narrowed a bit heading into Road America on July 31.
