Mixed results for Corvettes in the Asia Le Mans Series opening rounds in Maylasia
Alexander Sims qualified the # 66 JMR team Z06.GT3R Corvette on pole to start both Saturday and Sunday races at the Sepang Circuit in Kula Lumpur. (Sims also pilots the # 3 Pratt & Miller IMSA GTD PRO Corvette).
Sims, Abu Bakar Ibrahim and Yasser Sahin finished 16th on Saturday and were not classified on Sunday. Sahin was running third early in the race before he lost control exiting the third turn. Moments later the #10 Manthey Racing Porsche 911 GT3 R slid off and smashed the nose of the stranded Corvette, ending their chances. Officials Red-flagged the race 20-minutes short on Sunday under monsoon conditions which are not uncommon at this time of year.
Prince Jefri Ibrahim, Ben Green and Jordan Love in the # 99 JMR team Z06.GT3R Corvette finished 9th on Saturday and 12th on Sunday.

Tom Van Rompey, Salih Yoluc and Charlie Eastwood in the # 34 TF Sport Z06 GT3.R GT Corvette, sporting a dashing new Team Turkey look, finished 8th on Saturday. But as luck would have it, on Sunday, Van Rompey clipped the rear of Shahin’s beached # 66 Corvette and finished last in the GT class.
Blake MacDonald, Matt Bell and James Roe in the # 11 Z06.GT3R Corvette finished 15th on Saturday and 7th on Sunday. Folks might recognize it as the same car and drivers fielded by the DXDT team in the USA however it was entered by TF Sport in Maylasia and for the balance of the Asian Le Mans Series.
For the record, Shigekazu Wakisaka, Anthony Bartone and Fabian Schiller in the # 9 GetSpeed Racing Team Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo GT won the race on Saturday covering 96 laps around the 5.543 km Sepang circuit.
For the record, Dustin Scott Blattner, Chris Lulham and Dennis Marschall in the # 74 Kessel Racing team (Swiss) Ferrari 296 GT3 GT won the race on Sunday covering 87 laps.
The Asia Le Mans Series (ALMS), like the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) is a creation of the Automobile Club of the Ouest that hosts the 24 hours of Le Mans.
The series starts with 4-hour races (rounds 1 & 2) on Sat/Sun Dec 13-14, 2025 at the Sepang Circuit in Maylasia per above, followed on Sat/Sun Jan 31- Feb 1 2026 (rounds 3 & 4) at Dubai Autodrome, Dubai; and on Feb 7 - 8 2026 (rounds 5 & 6) at Yas Marina Circuit, Abu Dhabi.
It is not to be confused with the World Endurance Championship (WEC) with seven 6-hour races plus its epic fourth round, the famed 24 hours of Le Mans.
Also, not to be confused with SRO WC Asia, a series of six shorter 90-minute races that kick off Sat/Sun April 4-5 (also at Sepang) and ending Sat/Sun October 17-18 on a street circuit in Beijing.
The two JMR (JOHOR) Corvettes are now joined by the two TF Sport Corvettes for a total of Four Corvettes in the Asia Le Mans series that boasts a field of 22 GT cars consisting of 6 Ferraris, 5 Porsches, 2 AMG, 2 BMW, 2 Aston Martin & 1 McLaren.
