Trans Am Dreams Shattered for Amy Ruman at Watkins Glen
Coming into Watkins Glen, Amy Ruman was tied for fifth place in the TA points standings with David Pintaric.
Pintaric, her rustbelt neighbor based southeast of Cleveland Ohio, finished fourth in his # 57 TA Mustang while Ruman managed only 5 laps to finish eighth in her # 23 TA Corvette. Both drivers are a few ticks off the pace of the leaders but still able to contend.
Pole-winner Justin Marks cruised to victory in his # 99 Trackhouse racing Camaro after briefly giving way the # 79 Dodge Challenger of Boris Said who also dropped out of the race.
Richard Grant finished sixth in his # 30 TA Corvette, the second of 2 Corvettes in the 8-car TA field.
There were no caution flags despite storms and fog that plagued a 41-car TA2 field of Mustangs and Camaros; and a large field of SVRA vintage Corvettes celebrating the marque’s 70th anniversary on the Speed Tour.
Justin Marks claimed his third win without running a full schedule while Chris Dyson backed by Gym-Weed seems headed for the series championship with three races to go wrapping up at CoTA on Nov. 3-5.
Ruman on the other hand faces a tougher road ahead.
