Historic Corvettes face off at Brands Hatch circuit
Racers from the US, Denmark, Switzerland and the UK faced off for Speedfest 10 at Brands Hatch, an historic 2.43-mile circuit in Kent, just 21 miles SE of London.
On Jun 16-18, the indefatigable Bernie Chodosh and his sons Adam and Simeon Chodosh staged the first of 3 race meetings over the Corvette’s 70th anniversary year.
# 888 Simeon Chodosh won the first of three 19 lap races in his Corvette best described as a wolf in sheep’s clothing, essentially a C2 with the looks of a C1 solid axle. Watch this short video and you will get the point.
# 63 Dag Andersen from Denmark set the fastest lap in his GT1 spec C3.
# 13 Glenn Every from the US led all Corvettes in race 2 finishing 2nd to a very quick Camaro that has appeared at the HSR Classic Daytona 24.
Here are the Corvettes of # 74 Hans Hauser, # 77 Tim Brook and # 177 John Pearson that appeared in race 3 on a damp track following a thunderstorm.
It was the first time all three Chodosh’s raced together. Bernie in # 999 and Adam in # 777, his latest new ride.
An accident occurred between Amanda Hennessey driving the # 47 Le Mans ex Filipinetti Corvette and # 69 of Tim Davis which caught fire but should be repaired for the next race meeting at Oulton Park on August 18-19.
Robert Dubler, veteran Swiss racer and chocolatier piloted # 46, a potent upgraded 1956 Corvette. Dubler and the venerable Toni Seiler raced a C5 Corvette four straight years (2005-2008) in the Rolex Grand Am Sportscar Series at the 24 hours of Daytona.
Bernie‘s V8 race series is part of MSVR, the UK’s largest motorsport organization run by ex-F1 driver Jonathan Palmer.
