Callaway C7 GT3.R Corvette sports new look at St Pete

Mirco Schultis in the # 70 Callaway C7 GT3.R Corvette chassis 001 began his second season in the SRO GT America Series opener at the 1.8-mile street circuit in St. Petersburg FL.

Schultis ran all 8 races at tracks across the country last year finishing third in the standings.  His state-of-the-art GT3 Corvette is now sponsored by Mothers Car Care Products and trimmed in red, white and black.

It really stands out among the Audi R8, the Aston Martin Vantage, 2 Porsche 911s and 7 Mercedes AMGs.

Two 40-minute sprint races were held on Friday/Saturday, March 3 and 4 supporting the Indy Car opener that weekend.

The # 70 Mishumotors Corvette ran about one second in arrears finishing 5th and 7th respectively.

Friday’s winner was Jason Daskalos in the # 27 CRP Racing Mercedes completing 27 laps.

Saturday’s winner was Memo Gidley in the # 101 TKO Motorsport Mercedes completing 22 laps in a race shortened by an extended caution period and impending darkness.

The series picks up next on March 31-April 2 at Sonoma CA.
