Corvette Racing Team seizes 2nd place at Mosport CANADA

IMSA made it to Canada having been shut out since 2019.  Jordan Taylor in the # 3 Corvette C8.R GTD PRO started from back in the third row at the picturesque 2.45-mile circuit now named Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, part-owned by Corvette legend Ron Fellows.  Taylor’s time was nearly a half-second off the pole sitter # 9 Porsche 911 RSR GT3.

Good fortune and smart strategy took Taylor and teammate Antonio Garcia to second place when the two-hour forty-minute race was over.

Taylor gained a spot early, benefiting when the # 25 BMW M4 GT3 of John Edwards lost its left rear wheel on its run into the 180-degree degree Moss corner; (just like Kenny Rogers sings, “you picked a fine time to leave me loose wheel”).

Lacking the outright speed to control the race, the C8.R was easier on its Michelin rubber with no letup over the fast dips, rises and sweeping curves CTMP is known for.

The Corvette gained an edge by swapping just 2 tires and a double-stint strategy.

Following the driver change, Garcia caught the draft of a faster LMP3 car, lunging past the # 23 Aston Martin Vantage GT3 of Alex Riberas to take second in GTD PRO with about 75 minutes to go.

There was no way to beat the # 9 Porsche 911 RSR of Mathieu Jaminet and Matt Campbell… to the delight of the Pfaff team from Toronto and some 450 guests.

Corvette fans enjoyed their own special treat from the Ontario Corvette Club.

The result boosted Garcia and Taylor back into second place in the GTD PRO Drivers Championship, with Chevrolet moving to second in the Manufacturers Championship with four races to go in the season.  Lime Rock is up next.
