# 11 Justin Oakes Droneworks Corvette keeps rising, wins SGT at Mid-Ohio: # 23 Amy Ruman back on her game
# 11 Justin Oakes won the TA SGT class for the third time this season, leading flag to flag in his GSpeed Corvette.
Lewis Gigliotti and crew, d/b/a GSpeed Racing in Cresson TX turned a basic C6 ZO6 into a state-of-the-art machine that out qualified rivals driving a BMW M4 GT4, a Porsche 991 GT3, a Audi R8 GT3 and a Mustang GT4.
Oakes and his Houston-based Droneworks company are on the way to win the SGT Championship which would be a Corvette first.
# 23 Amy Ruman was the top TA Corvette finishing 4th ahead of # 4 Paul Fix who bested her in the rain at Lime Rock.
Ruman ran in the lead pack and was happy for a solid finish in front of her hometown fans.
# 20 Chris Dyson Mustang could not be stopped, repeating his overall win at Lime Rock.
# 7 Ryan McManus, a local and # 30 Richard Grant, a regular, were 5th and 7th in TA.
# 4 Paul Fix contended in his Tony Ave Corvette only to lose out in a late race caution and re-start that dropped him to 8th.
# 48 Mike Weathers driving another well-prepared GSpeed C6 ZO6 missed qualifying and still seems to be feeling his way in the new Extreme (XGT) class, Trans Am’s foster home for “orphaned” FIA GT3 cars.
Next stop on the Trans Am tour is Road America is just a weekend away on July 3-4
