# 26 Aaron Pierce wins SGT class, # 41 Vinnie Allegretta takes 4th in TA at Watkins Glen

# 26 Aaron Pierce started from pole and posted the first victory for a Corvette this year by winning the SGT class in the 30-lap race at the Glen.

Aaron’s C6 ZO6 Corvette is sponsored by family Sam Pierce Chevrolet dealer in Daleville Indiana.

# 41 Vinnie Allegretta running a partial schedule was 4th behind leading full-timers.

# 30 Richard Grant had his best outing finishing 7th.

# 23 Amy Ruman retired on lap 28 (mechanical failure), scored 11th.  Holds onto third with 3 races to run.

# 17 Adam Andretti stroked it because of a budget squeeze.  They will have a new engine and plan to go all out at the Daytona finale.

Trans Am officials want to limit the stress (and cost) of these 850+ HP NASCAR 366 cu in motors that require frequent re-builds (and bigger budgets) to run up front.

The first 3 spots went to well-funded teams of # 98 Ernie Francis Jr (winner), # 11 Boris Said and # 20 Chris Dyson.

Simon Gregg was absent attending a funeral overseas.
