Sunday’s race started under rain but the sky was expected to clear in a matter of time. Having qualified back in 17th, the team had nothing to lose by starting on slicks. As the track dried, the bet paid off on lap 17 when the # 1 Corvette ZO6R-GT3 took the lead.  Defending champ ADAC-GT Masters champ Keilwitz notched his 12th win, the most of any driver in the series so far.

Doug Peterson qualified first and led every lap of the race. Amy Ruman got past 2nd place qualifier Simon Gregg on lap 1 and chased Peterson until about halfway.  But Gregg and top Mustang driver Cliff Ebben closed in on Amy which allowed Doug to extend the margin. Doug Peterson seems headed for a second consecutive title even with 3 more races to go. So far the new C7 bodywork does not appear to make a difference for Simon Gregg. Car preparation by Tony Ave and a strong driving performance by Doug proved to be the edge at Brainerd. The 27 car field was about 2/3 of that at the better known and more centrally located Mid-Ohio circuit.

 On Aug 22-24, Corvettes at Carlisle hosted a display of C1 – C4 Corvette race cars. They came from the Miller Family collection, from noted restorer Kevin Mackay/customers and cars from the 1988 and 1989 Corvette Challenge Series.
